Going on a walk with him is always an adventure, as we invariably go off course; walk twice the distance we had planned and end up somewhere we probably shouldn’t be. Not such a problem in Britain, where the biggest dangers are perhaps a patch of stinging nettles or a field full of bullocks...but this is why we tend to stick to organised walking tours when we’re in foreign climes.
But today we were on home turf where, true to form, a 4-mile stroll ended up as a 7ish-mile hike. Still fun though.....

ReplyDeleteYour post made me laugh and remember a time when one of my direction challenged male friends decided we should take a hike two hours before we had to be on a flight out of town. He thought the hiking trail circled around and would take us back to where we started. When I noticed a major four lane highway off in the distance (that was not anywhere in the original vicinity) we discovered we were actually hiking in a completely different canyon. We had to bribe someone to drive us about 20 miles by road back to where we started. Funny now, not so funny then!
