Snowshoeing - Part 3

Today I want to take you all on a fantastic snowshoeing walk that will afford spectacular views of Mont Blanc....

Starting at 1280 metres on the outskirts of picturesque village of Cordon, we climb to the Tete Noire. Flanked by the mighty Aravis mountains and Point Percee, we climb the crest to the Cabane du

Petit Patre (1915 metres) following the Tour du Pay du Mont Blanc trail....

That was hard work! But completely worth it for the views....

Snowshoeing - Part 2

There has been so much snow in the UK over the past few days, that the White Stuff is starting to loose its appeal somewhat....

However, in the absence of not a lot else happening in my life at the moment, I'm still going to bore you all with the second photographic instalment of my snowshoeing Alpine ventures!

Today we climb to the Truc Plateau via three trails... the Tour du Mont Blanc, the GR5 and The Tour du Pays du Mont Blanc. We explore the Truc Plateau to 1900 metres and then descend into the Miage Valley....

This was the worst day in terms of visibility, and so my photos are somewhat limited. Happily, sunnier days are ahead....

A snowy day....

A long lunch finishing with delicious sticky toffee pudding...

Loads of phone calls, texts and messages from family and friends near and far.

Not a bad way to celebrate the start of the last year of my 30s. I have decided that I won't be getting any older.... just more sophisticated, stylish, elegant, poised and chic - I reckon I've a fair way to go!

Snowshoeing - Part 1

Are you all wrapped up warm, got your snow shoes on and ready to tackle some steep ascents? Good, because you're about to come with me on the first day of our snowshoeing trip!

Staring from Plain Joux (1300 metres) we skirt above the Lac Vert....

That's a frozen lake down there

....and climb to Le Chatelet (1418 metres) for a coffee at the refuge  

Climbing to Ayeres des Rocs, we see where the Roman road headed to Martigny and admire the Fiz Mountain, the largest limestone plateau in Europe.

Time for cake and tea by the fire... and a soak in the hot tub!
