Next, Kunaram Temple to see the mummified monk, Loung Pordaeng. When he died, he was sitting in a meditation position. Almost forty years on, he is still in that same position and his body doesn't show any signs of major decay. A slightly macabre sight....
Oh er! those rocks are rather naughty! The temples are splendid and Loung Pordaeng is definitely in better shape than St Francis Xavier, the Portuguese mummified saint put on display in Goa every 10 years! x
ReplyDeleteThere are enough Buddha's in this post to write a thesis on them - all shapes and sizes. The mummified monk is weird. Can you imagine Health and Safety allowing that here?
